About the Grief Recovery Method®

The Grief Recovery Method® is a method for unlocking and respecting the emotional experience of our grief, both the immediate or presenting grief issues, and those that may have been holding us captive for years.  Often, the most recent or presenting loss is actually made more difficult by related experiences from our past which were not recognized or addressed at the time – adding weight to that resulting from the current loss.

Through a defined step-by-step process, the Grief Recovery Method® first explores the “old, ineffective tools” we’ve been using, with the belief that it’s hard to learn new tools if we don’t understand why the old ones might not have been effective.  Then, the process shifts to the introduction of new tools which can be used across a wide gamut of losses – from persons, to pets, to hopes and dreams and expectations, to those intangible things like trust, safety or faith.  At every step the griever is respected, listened to and heard without judgement or analysis, and is supported in identifying and giving voice to the array of emotions that accompany the full extent of the loss.  Once the Grief Recovery Method® process is completed for one loss, it can be used over and over again, to address other past losses, and to help more quickly address new losses.

About Me

Hello I’m Chris McIndoe. I am a Grief Recovery Method® Specialist, based in the North West of England.

My professional life has centred around providing high quality holistic care. During the 20 years of my nursing career I have cared for and supported both patients and families, often through the most difficult times in their lives. In 2015 I made the transition into the funeral industry, which enabled me to continue this supporting role and work with grieving families, often in crisis situations. Through this work I was introduced to the Grief Recovery Method® and was inspired. Working as a Grief Recovery Method® Specialist consolidates my professional and personal experiences with loss from a very young age. This means that I am well placed to help others on their Grief Recovery journey in a sensitive, confidential and non-judgemental way. I have had the privilege of working with a wide variety of clients, dealing with grief caused by bereavement, divorce and many of the 40 + causes of grief.

I offer Grief Recovery Method® sessions both in person and online, for 1-1 sessions as well as in-person groups for up to 8 people. I am also available for public speaking events and open to other enquiries.

If you are currently dealing with loss of any kind and feel ready to let go of the pain that it is causing, please feel free to contact me and we can take the first steps together.

What People Say

Thank you, Chris for being by my side!

I have just completed my GRM Session 7 with Chris, who had been recommended to me, to help deal with the loss of my beautiful husband.

From our first session together she made me feel at ease, safe and with someone I could truly trust. Chris is a very compassionate, honest, empathetic, knowledgeable lady, with a warm smile. Her support and guidance got me through all 7 sessions, which I thought at times I would never do.

I have already made a positive move going forward and although it's one step at a time, I feel that I am heading in a better direction.

I could have never done this without your wealth of knowledge regarding this programme and your empathy all the way. Thank you Chris.
